Electrofishing of river systems to Scottish Fisheries Co-ordination Centre standards is undertaken by TransTech.
The main objectives of electrofishing are:
- Fish removal and relocation (e.g. for road bridge developments or other construction works).
- Stock assessment.
- Fish health surveys.
- Tagging.
- Eliminating invasive species.
Surveys for river bed invertebrate presence which meet SEPA sampling standards can also be provided and for Hydro-Electric Schemes compensation flow requirements (e.g. Q95, Q98) can be assessed.
Work can be presented for Hydro-Electric Schemes as a standalone report or as a chapter for inclusion in an Environmental Statement.
